Our History

RAISED AND SCHOOLED IN HAWAII…

Both on land and in the ocean.

It appears that I was an early practitioner of yoga.

FROM A VERY YOUNG AGE I LIKED TO TALK STORY.

Today it’s telling stories with my camera. Combining the two has led me to where I am today

MY PARENTS HAD ME IN THE OCEAN AND SWIMMING AT AGE 3

By age 7 I was surfing Waikiki with a lot of the older kids and loving every minute.

THE 1950’S, 60’S AND EARLY 1970’S WERE EVERY TRUE SURFERS DREAM

Surfing and skateboarding…what a great time, along with the best music ever.

I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE A FATHER WHO ENCOURAGED MY PASSION FOR THE SPORT OF KINGS

Duke Kahanamoku, Surfline, Velzy, Ole, Hobie and Greg Noll were just a few of my chosen spears while growing up.

I WAS AN ASPIRING BEACH BOY WANNA BE…

Traveling to the country (North Shore) to surf Sunset and the rest of the other 7 mile legendary spots.

I TOOK A TRIP TO CALIFORNIA IN 1971

So that I could experience Malibu and the rest of the other west coast spots that I had heard so many stories about.

Surfing the west coast was a lot of fun and I loved the California vibe.

Those early wetsuits though…

I LOVED THE CALI WAVES SO MUCH I SET UP SHOP.

It never rained and the crowds were nonexistent.

I TRIED MY HAND AT JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING…

Manufacturing surfwear, shaping and running a thriving surf shop.

I WAS STOKED…

To have been able to live the surf lifestyle while still being able to shoot film and spend time in the ocean and chase waves with my friends.

MY MENTOR AND TEACHER FRED VAN DYKE WAS ALWAYS A TRIP TO HANG OUT WITH

His classroom back in the 1960’s to me was more than learning about science…

I was being schooled on surfing the North Shore and life. And for that I am forever grateful.
